Kato Paphos The harbour at Kato Paphos is one of several picturesque places to visit during your holiday to Cyprus. It’s the perfect place to visit when you wish to while away a few hours. Take a stroll along the harbour wall, pop into one of the restaurants for either a drink or a meal and simply watch the world go by.
Paphos Fort Originally a Byzantine fort built to protect the harbour, it has been rebuilt over the centuries. It is now an empty shell, but during your holidays in Cyprus is well worth a visit for the small admission fee and is one of the best places in Paphos to benefit from the wonderful all round view from the rooftop.
Paphos Mosaics These mosaics are some of the most important pieces in Cyprus history and are housed in the remains of two Roman houses depicting a life of luxury from the 3rd Century AD. The houses are named after the most prominent Gods depicted in the mosaics, Dionysos and Aion.
Tomb of the Kings Spread over a large area the impressive subterranean burial chambers were built from the 3rd Century BC to the 3rd Century AD. They are carved out of solid rock with some being decorated with Doric pillars. The magnificence of the tombs gave the area its name.
Agios Georgios Harbour A small and very beautiful fishing harbour West of Coral Bay. At the top you’ll find the ruins of two early Christian basilicas with some interesting mosaic floors. A cliff top restaurant enjoys wonderful views of the harbour. This is a wonderful spot to enjoy and savour the breath taking sunsets that Paphos experiences.
Akamas Peninsula The Akamas is one of the few unspoilt places of wilderness to be found in Cyprus. A 4-wheeled drive vehicle is recommended as the road, if you can call it that in places is not tarmac. The coastline is spectacular and the protected Lara Bay area is the home to the nesting Loggerhead and Green turtles. There are a number of sheltered sandy bays to visit together with a beach front restaurant.
Troodos mountains The Troodos mountain area is the ideal place to visit in the heat of the summer as the air is fresher and cooler. The drive up the mountain is an experience in itself as it winds its way through peaceful villages. At the foothills you will see the orchards and the pine forests at higher altitudes. Skiing can be enjoyed near the resort of Troodos usually during the months of January to March.
Waterpark Aphrodite Waterpark is well worth a visit and a must if you have children. Rides range from the sedate Lazy River to the Kamikaze for the more adventurous or stupid! To make sure of a good spot ensure you get there early. Lockers are provided and they operate a wristband paying system so no money is needed until you leave the park.
Diving Paphos is the ideal place to take part in scuba diving with crystal clear waters and numerous dive sites to cater for all levels of experience in the area. There are various PADI registered dive schools based around the Paphos and Coral Bay areas Golf Paphos has three good quality 18 hole golf courses in the area and they are all within half an hour of the apartment, the closest being Tsada which is approximately 15 minutes drive from the apartment. The other two are Aphrodite Hills and Secret Valley and both of these are within a 30 minute drive. Some other suggestions of things to do in the Paphos region
• Go Karting • Crazy golf • Cosmic Bowling • Snake George’s Reptile Park • Paphos Bird Park • Wine tasting • Horse riding • Jeep safaris • Quad biking
